The US is one of the biggest waste collectors in the world.
It is estimated that US citizens throw away more than 100 billion plastic bags a year.
A staggering 40% of that waste goes to landfills and 30% of it ends up in landfanks, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
It takes a lot of garbage to be collected and it is not just landfill sites.
Some of the trash that ends up at landfags is even more hazardous than the landfill itself.
